Carefully preserved in the Winterthur Library collection of rare books is Pierre de la Mésangère’s Collection de Meubles et Objets de Goût, published in Paris between 1801 and 1831. The series includes more than 700 hand-colored engravings of furniture, carriages, draperies, and other decorative objects. Mésangère’s publication was influential in popularizing the designs of Napoleon’s decorators, Percier and Fontaine.
